  JOB TITLE: AI Engineer, R&D

  ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

  TelevisaUnivision is the leading Spanish-language media company reaching 125 million Spanish speakers every day across markets in the US and Latin America. ViX is the rapidly growing direct to consumer streaming platform launched last year which has a free ad supported version and a subscription-based service. The company owns and creates the largest library of Spanish content in the world and has the rights to a lot of soccer content from all over North and Latin America but also the World Cup and the European Champions League.

  The NL based R&D team at ViX is looking for an AI engineer with several years of experience to join our team! Are you eager to join a young and new team within a large organization?

  The R&D team researches, iterates, experiments, prototypes and builds tools and services that power the ViX streaming platform. The team handles complex challenges and works on innovative and often AI focused projects while controlling and directing other engineering teams, external partners and stakeholders. The role is essential in providing our audience a great experience every time they open the VIX app and will be key to developing industry-leading reliability, quality, and performance.

  In this role, as part of the R&D team, you will work closely with stakeholders in understanding what the business needs and translate that into technical requirements for research and development. Your core role will be to research, prototype and develop data driven software. As an AI engineer your responsibilities will include building AI driven solutions with both external and internal models. Pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the rapidly moving AI ecosystem.

  ABOUT YOU:

  You dive headfirst into challenges and have a problem-solving mentality. You are comfortable with failing often and fast on the road towards a solution. You evangelize software craftsmanship and operational excellence yet pragmatic to know when to incur technical debt versus ‘doing it right’. This is a fine balance in an R&D team. You are confident yet humble enough to change your mind when new information presents itself. You value open communication and are willing to give and receive feedback. You are a self-starter, flexible and can adjust to shifting priorities.

  YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

  The team you will be a part of will;

  • Research, Design, Prototype, Experiment, and build services, tools, systems, features and experiences that help fuel a great streaming experience.
  • Research, prototype and build AI/ML driven systems that understand video and that use the latest innovation. From Vector databases to LLM’s.
  • Be the spear point of innovation coming up with smart ideas and solutions and rapidly prototyping potential solutions in short iterations.
  • Work with other engineers across the company to continuously consider how to implement ideas and prototypes in large-scale applications serving millions of users. You work in the R&D department, but you will work together with other teams on a regular basis.

  YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)

  (Required Skills & Experience)

  • 5+ years in a relevant engineering or research role.
  • An innovative mindset. You like to research, tinker, and solve complex challenges.
  • Fluency in Python, SQL or equivalent languages, and substantial experience with ML.
  • You are a self-starter and can get stuff done.
  • Strong communication with proven ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform or other cloud providers.

  • Experience building tools for a streaming platform.
  • Experience with high-profile, high-concurrency live-events.
  • Experience in R&D teams and building rapid prototypes.
  • Experience training NN or LLM models.
