      Job Description

      As an AI Engineer, you’ll work alongside industry experts to research, develop and apply cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to build innovative technologies, services, and products. In this role you’ll combine software engineering skills and knowledge of ML and AI algorithms to contribute to a team developing and operationalizing models, algorithms, and production quality codebases.

      *** This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually at home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

      For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota or Atlanta, Georgia.


      What you’ll do

      • Design and develop large-scale AI solutions leveraging state-of-the-art techniques
      • Use broad and deep knowledge of machine learning and software engineering to contribute to the roadmap of Best Buy’s core AI capabilities
      • Build products that influence and enhance the lives of millions of people
      • Optimize inference latency to enable real-time ML serving for millions of Best Buy customers daily
      • Working with both the ML science and data engineering teams to design the training/serving data schema for input features as well as request/response data contracts during inference
      Basic qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, physics, math, operations research or related field
      • 2 years of experience building, deploying and serving real-time ML/AI models with ultra-low latency and high throughput, as resilient, scalable, cloud native services
      • 2 years of experience in Python and SQL
      • 2 years of experience building data engineering pipelines, ML/AI driven products or other related functions (e.g. software engineering, data science)
      • Demonstrated expertise in software design, test-driven development and implementation using a general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Rust, C++, etc.)
      • AI, machine learning and algorithmic background in supervised and unsupervised learning, embeddings, reinforcement learning, deep learning, or Gen AI

      Preferred qualifications
      • Master's degree in (computer science, engineering, physics, math or related)
      • Experience in cloud-service providers such as GCP or AWS
      • Experience in multi-cloud and multi-region integration
      • Experience building production grade ML models using one or more deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch or ONNX.
      • Experience with MLOps, DataOps and Orchestration platforms such as KubeFlow, Vertex AI pipelines, MLFlow, Spark or Argo for end-to-end model building, training, serving and monitoring
      • Experience building ML/AI solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with Seldon
      • Experience using SQL for writing model pipelines in production systems (e.g., BigQuery)
      • Knowledge of model serialization and deserialization for Pytorch, Scikitlearn and Tensorflow
      • Knowledge of Git and Github, Gitops and CI/CD deployments with Github actions
      • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to cross-functional team members
