Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is hailed as “cultural ambassador to the world” by the U.S. Congress and is renowned for its stellar performances, high-caliber dance training, and innovative educational initiatives which reach nearly 500,000 people around the globe each year. Robert Battle, Artistic Director, continues the pioneering work of Alvin Ailey and furthers the development of a cultural community which provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people.
The Ailey organization has a rich and inspiring history rooted in African-American traditions and provides young people with a range of role models within its group of experienced instructors. The Ailey School employs Faculty part-time to instruct students enrolled in all the school's various programs.Ailey School instructors report to the school's Directors, Tracy Inman and Melanie Person and are responsible for supporting the mission of the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation and providing the highest caliber instruction to all students in the school.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSFaculty should demonstrate expertise working in a particular dance technique(s) as a professional artist and educator. They should possess a passion for working with students at all levels of their training.
