      Job Description:

The Aircraft Records Specialist invests in the future of Southwest’s People in their support to Technical Operations Employees throughout the Southwest Network. Southwest operates the largest Boeing 737 fleet in the world, and this Specialist works primarily with Maintenance Employees and L eaders in Dallas to support issue management for real-time impacts to the operation, component control, data corrections, incoming component integrity, and part tracking paperwork in support of 14CFR 121.380. The Aircraft Records Specialist is excited about the opportunity to work collaboratively and play an important role in Southwest providing safe and hospitable travel to all of our Customers .

      Responsibilities
      • Acts as a resource for real-time resolution of operational issues including but not limited to: error correction in CDCS for locked aircraft, incorrect part removal, incorrect serial number removal, removed part not matching inventory, manufacturer serial number not matching inventory, inventory not in system, part/serial installed on different aircraft, unserviceable inventory
      • Coordinates with other Records Teams to escalate unresolved requests to appropriate team for timely resolutions based on needed expertise or authority
      • Assists in CDCS updates for tracking level changes, working with MX Programs and Configuration Control
      • Assists with maintaining component accuracy by updating track part/inventory attributes such as Life cycle/hours, manufacture date, shelf life in CDCS for received-in components.
      • Reviews 8130 information in order to update CDCS within department guidelines
      • Responds to requests for part/inventory issue resolution in a timely manner for operational, Receiving Inspection, or Stores needs.
      • Assists with research and document gathering with Fleet Transactions for lease returns, retirements, or scrapped aircraft.
      • Assists with testing new Technology software updates for functionality and guidance in developing training materials
      • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Ability to learn, gain knowledge, and understand aircraft systems, aircraft maintenance, MPM procedures and Records training procedures or entry level knowledge of a record and retention tracking system
      • Ability to learn and gain knowledge of MPM procedures and internal guidance to perform role successfully and timely
      • Ability to facilitate phone calls and requests and determine what the need is. Ability to relay the content of the request to a Sr Specialist or above if necessary
      • Skilled in Microsoft Suite products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
      • Skilled in task organization with attention to details
      • Preferred: Knowledge Maintenix (MXI) program
      Education
      • Required: High School Diploma or GED

      Experience
      • Entry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:
        • Inventory tracking systems, electronic filing and research, and departmental training procedures
        • Using an integrated aircraft maintenance data collection and tracking system, or an equivalent
        • 14 CFR 121 Air Carrier, Aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer, airline industry supplier or vendor, or similar industry where record-keeping is essential

      Physical Abilities
      • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
      • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
      • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

      Other Qualifications
      • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
      • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
      • Must be at least 18 years of age
      • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
      • Travel required as needed to meet the demands of the business
      • Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime
      • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
      • Ability to work extended hours as needed

      Pay & Benefits:

      Competitive market salary from $60,050 per year to $66,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
