State Strategies Deputy Director

Location: Remote to the contiguous United States
Status: Exempt
Compensation: $120,000
All* Above All is a national campaign, founded in 2013 by reproductive justice organizations, to address
barriers to abortion access, like the Hyde amendment, that disproportionately impacts communities of
color. All* Above All is a catalyst for abortion justice. We envision a world where abortion care is
affordable, available, and supported for everyone who needs it. We shape narratives, move policy,
accelerate strategy, and build political power, with a goal of building capacity across the field through our
partnership.
Position Summary
The State Strategies Deputy Director works closely with the State Strategies Director to implement and
execute innovative policy with state and local partners. They are also responsible for creating and
maintaining key partnerships with high level state elected official staff.
The ideal candidate will have prior nonprofit and or social justice legislative experience. Be an adaptable,
motivated, self-directed professional with the ability to give and receive constructive critics in service of
the work.
Responsibilities and Task
● Executes state policy strategies that forward All’s state and local legislation, policy, and narrative
agenda.
● Builds relationships with key high-level staff members of state partner organizations.
● Builds relationships with high-level staff members of elected officials.
● Works with political campaigns on implementing campaigns.
● Manages ballot initiatives and other policy issue campaigns with consultants and stakeholders.
● interfaces with state-based vendors.
● Translates policy, legislative, and legal reforms into actionable content - campaign plans,
advocacy alerts, toolkits, rallies, and other related materials - for partners and supporters.
● Represents All* at coalition meetings.
● Manages and nurtures relationships with key state partner policy tables.
● Conceptualizes and manages ballot measure campaigns in collaboration with partnerships.
● Manages project timelines and effective completion of project deliverables.
Other:
● Ability to travel up to 50%.
● All employees of NVF are required to complete timesheets.
● Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
● 5+ years of project management experience working within strategy, policy and legislation.
● 5+ years of experience working with diverse groups and writing across platforms and audiences.
● Strong analytical, writing, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
● Ability to develop work plans and set deadlines and meet project goals.
● Ability to work well independently or with minimal supervision, prioritize assignments, and
organize multiple projects and duties simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
● Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, knowing when to act independently and when
to consult for advice on decision-making.
● A willingness to carry out a wide range of activities, including both professional and logistical
tasks.
● A strong commitment to reproductive health, rights and justice.
● Strong commitment to diversity and equity.
● Experience working with diverse groups of partners.
● Proven track record of working to introduce and pass state legislation.
● Highly organized with a keen eye for detail.
● Commitment and capacity to maintain the highest level of integrity, judgment, confidentiality,
and discretion in managing union information and resources.
● Ability to plan, execute and facilitate meetings.

Benefits
Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance
for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible
for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are
also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80
hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees
will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 20 weeks of
paid family and medical leave upon start date. All* Above All also offers supplemental benefits like a home office equipment bonus, professional development funds, and paid sabbatical leave.
