      About the Opportunity
      This position is part of the Bowral Dietetics Department. The Dietitian Assistant assists in maintaining a high standard of nutritional care for all inpatients by obtaining and managing daily menu choices, interviewing patients for their food preference, supporting the Dietitians in monitoring of oral intake and liaising with Food Services on the day to day provision of meals to patients. Availability to work weekend shifts will be required for this role.


      Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme
      This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Retention incentive under the NSW Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme, paid on a fortnightly basis.

      The Attraction incentive for this position equates to:

      - An Allowance of up to $10,000 in total for the first 12 months of your employment as successful candidate to this position.

      - A Retention incentive of up to $5,000 in total may be offered thereafter annually (dependent on position continuing to meet scheme and policy criteria).

      Employees are responsible to understand the criteria of accepting and retaining the incentives paid and are recommended to seek financial advice prior to accepting an Attraction or Retention payment as part of their employment.

      What you'll be doing
      This position is part of Bowral Hospital's Nutrition & Dietetics Department. The Dietitian Assistant assists in maintaining a high standard of nutritional care for all inpatients by obtaining and managing daily menu choices, interviewing patients for their food preference, supporting the Dietitians in monitoring of oral intake and liaising with Food Services on the day to day provision of meals to patients.

      Bowral & District Hospital is part of the South West Sydney Local Health District with strong and established networks to tertiary facilities of Campbelltown and Liverpool.

      Bowral & District Hospital is a new state of the art hospital - opened in December 2020, with level 3 acute bed facility which provides a wide range of services including 24 hour Emergency Department, 2 Operating Theatres plus a Procedures room, Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Critical and Coronary Care, Maternity & Paediatrics.

      How to Apply
      To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

      1. Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics) or Certificate III AHA (Nutrition & Dietetics) or equivalent qualification or relevant recent experience with a commitment to commence Certificate IV within 12 months.
      2. Good current knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
      3. Good written and verbal communication skills, and customer relations skills and experience.
      4. Demonstrated understanding of the quality improvement process.
      5. Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team.
      6. Good computer skills including experience using CBORD windows system.
      7. Knowledge and/or experience in malnutrition screening.
      8. Experience using tablets for menu selections
