- Respond to enquiries and resolve issues from customers, external agencies and stakeholders in relation to amendments and updates to Registry records to ensure provision of timely and responsible customer service.
- Assess client files and/or liaise with clients to fully understand the nature of their request, to explain Registry policies and procedures, and to gain client agreement to an appropriate course of action.
- Prepare correspondence to seek information or explain policy to clients and to provide clients with the correct documentation to assist them in completing forms and statutory declarations in accordance with per Registry procedures.
- Examine and assess legal documents of local and overseas origin and check statutory declarations and supporting evidence to ensure compliance with legislation and Registry policy.
- Draft correspondence for complex matters and the preparation of case files (reports, minute sheets, reference copies of registrations, file notes) to enable amendment action to be authorised and processed.
- Provide high-quality information and assistance to clients and stakeholders via telephone, face-to-face, email and other forms of communication to ensure positive customer experience.
- Work cooperatively within a team to support achievement of team objectives by contributing to a team environment of knowledge and information sharing, continuous improvement, and skill and capability development
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when communicating with staff and clients while maintaining quality outputs
- Providing timely responses to enquiries, prioritising own workload and managing competing deadlines in a high-volume area while working independently with minimal supervision.

Hybrid with 3 days per week in Pyrmont office
This role sits within Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) the Operations & Service Delivery Directorate in the Amendments team.
About the Registry
The NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is an agency within the NSW Department of Customer Service. The Registry was formed in 1856 to register life events in NSW accurately and securely for all time. This includes the registration of births, deaths and marriages and official changes of name and sex.
About the team
This role sits in Amendments in the Civil Registration Services team and provides advice and assistance to clients seeking amendment to Registry records, consistent with legislative requirements and Registry policy and guidelines.
About the role
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the ability to:Salary Grade 3/4, with the base salary for this role starting at 79,032 base plus superannuation
