      What you will do

In this vital role you will work closely with patients and HCP office staff to pre-screen PAP eligibility requirements and exhaust payer requirements/barriers. The PAP counselor understands program designs, coordinates with various insurance companies as well as health care professionals in order to facilitate drug coverage for patients.

      Responsibilities:

      • Strong attention to detail. This position will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all supporting documentation for the free-drug eligibility screening process.
      • Answer inbound calls, carefully assess their purpose, prioritize their handling, and triage the calls as indicated.
      • Manage and document multiple calls with customer(s) to obtain all requirements to complete PAP documentation to Amgen Safety Net Foundation
      • Engage with patients/providers via inbound and outbound calls to provide guidance and education relating to Program eligibility and any other assistance they may need.
      • Review benefit verifications, obtain insurance determinations, and confirm income to ensure patient eligibility for supported programs.
      • Track and document the PAP checklist, appropriate patient consent, confirm financial and residency information from patient to send to Amgen Safety Net Foundation.

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree OR
      • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Customer Service/Call Center experience OR
      • Associate’s degree and 6 years of Customer Service/Call Center experience OR
      • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Customer Service/Call Center experience

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Proven experience with claims and reimbursement
      • Confident communicator, skilled both in verbal and written interactions with customers
      • Ability to easily adapt to change and adjust priorities
      • Skilled at active listening and problem solving
      • General knowledge of accounting principles, pharmacy operations and medical claims
      • Understanding of claims coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10) is preferred
      • Proven experience with MS Office products
      • Bachelor's degree
