- Review campus-wide activities and operations for potential export control issues and license determinations. This includes review of agreement/contract terms and conditions; project-related activities, including export classification of equipment, technical information and materials; international travel and activities abroad, and restricted party screenings. Attend meetings as representative of Export Control.
- Support the development, implementation, and audit of Technology Control Plans to protect export-controlled activities, facilities, equipment, technical information and materials.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of export compliance databases, spreadsheets, documentation, filing system, and online tools to ensure compliance with federal and institutional recordkeeping requirements.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and presentation of export compliance-related educational training and materials for campus-wide use. Assist the Director in creating and updating export control policies and procedures. Conduct risk assessments, help identify potential export control vulnerabilities and the implementation of mitigation measures.
- Apply for and maintain the government export control licenses and other authorizations the institution needs to conduct its activities.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of the export control regulations with the ability to make independent, sound judgments regarding the interpretation and application of export control regulations;
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and meet deadlines;

- Ability to complete projects independently, and to work effectively as a team member with minimal coaching or supervision;
- Ability to develop and present effective training modules;

- This position may require access to information regulated under the U.S. Export Control Regulations and individuals must qualify as a U.S. Person under the U.S. Export Control Regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of demonstrated experience working with complex government export control regulations; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in a technically complex export control compliance and licensing environment, with preference given to working with principal investigators, research administration, and other university research and administrative personnel in a higher education setting;
- Experience in making export control classifications and determinations through analysis of the technical parameters of a product or technology;
- Substantial experience in engineering or other relevant scientific or technical disciplines;
- Experience working with the EAR, ITAR and OFAC sanctions and regulations; and
- Experience with e-customs (Visual Compliance) or other export control software systems such as DECCS and SNAP-R.

The Export Control Analyst (Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Pro III) position assists in the day-to-day operation and implementation of the University's export control compliance program's policies and procedures. Analyze project-related activities, agreements, documents, and technical parameters related to an activity, product, technology, or document for export control determination. Prepare and execute export control license applications and other authorizations that the institution needs for conducting its activities. Engage with faculty, staff, students, and units/departments across campus to achieve a proactive export compliance culture.
The University of Arizona’s Export Control Program is a flexible and strategic team that addresses all aspects of export control compliance affecting university stakeholders. The team works with units across campus to support University compliance with U.S. export controls laws and regulations. The Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) govern the shipment or transfer of export-controlled items (e.g., technical data, software, materials, and equipment) outside the U.S. and access to certain export-controlled items to non-U.S. Persons within the U.S. In addition, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations impose sanctions and embargoes on transactions or exchanges with designated countries, entities, and individuals. The export regulations are in place to protect U.S. economic vitality, foreign policy interests, and national security.
