- Analyst II is approximately $88,058.88 - $107,016.00 annually.
- Prepare capacity planning forecasts based on roadmap initiatives, implementation plans, and support projections.
- Collaborate with Fire IT to effectively implement and annually update the Fire IT Master Plan and Roadmap, ensuring alignment with the current department and IT operational priorities and needs.
- Conduct regular steering committee meetings to make informed decisions and prioritize department and bureau specific interests and needs.
- Review and establish support standards and expectations for IT, taking into consideration the SJFD operational standards, roadmap initiatives, and identified initiatives over the next 5-year cycle.
- Develop charters and establish project management processes for IT projects within the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manage the Compliance Engine Deficiency Reports by identifying required fire protection system maintenance and testing deficiencies, facilitating communication via email and phone with business owners and contractors, and scheduling compliance inspections with inspectors.
- Resolve data discrepancies between Compliance Engine Company reports and BFP facility databases.
- Evaluate survey trend analysis – create and manage external customer satisfaction surveys for BFP Development Services and Non-Development annual operational permit facilities.
- Manage and evaluate inspection completion records for State Mandated and other annually inspected facilities.
- Manage the creation and analysis of BFP bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (Crystal reports, performance measures, workflow).
- Collaborate with the Bureau of Administrative Services budget liaison to assist with BFP budgetary analysis and implementation.
- Track and analyze development project hours and related costs of service.
- Analyst I: No experience is required.
- Analyst II: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional staff analytic or administrative experience conducting studies, organizing and analyzing data, and preparing reports, recommendations, or conclusions for a functional area in the budget, finance, grant administration, organizational analysis, general administration, or human resources.

SJFD is a high-volume, all-hazards fire department providing fire suppression and rescue services and protects approximately 200 square miles, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support services as well as specialized operations including Urban Search and Rescue, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, and a Hazardous Incident Team with a Decontamination Unit. SJFD deploys resources from 34 fire stations, protecting areas within city limits and some unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County by contract. The salary ranges for Analyst positions are as follows:
This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Analyst I/II - Information Technology (IT):
The Fire Department’s Information Technology Team supports 33 fire stations and 2 field offices, ensure availability and reliability of their critical software/hardware systems. The individual hired into this job classification is responsible for analytical work in areas including, but not limited to, response times, business process evaluation, recruitment, and budget.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for the selected candidate to play a pivotal role in Fire IT. The employee is expected to assume a lead role for analytical functions along within the application group. A high level of independence and job expertise are vital. The employee in this position should be able to identify problems, research solutions, and provide recommendations with minimal guidance or supervision.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Tasks assigned to the position necessitate an ability to maintain confidential information essential to the IT Division. Outstanding customer service skills, both on the phone and in person, are required as the duties include working with staff from Fire IT and other Fire Department divisions, other City employees, as well as members of the public. Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel (including Pivot Tables), and using the internet for business communications and research are required. A high level of independence and job expertise are vital. The employee in this position should be able to identify problems, research solutions, and provide recommendations with minimal guidance or supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Acceptable Substitution: Experience as a Staff Specialist with the City of San José may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses or Certificates: Possession of a valid driver’s license is highly desirable.
