  About the role

  Welcome to the all-new Boots Opticians Data, MI and Insights Team – Opticians are expanding and becoming an ever more data driven business, with that we have formed a new wider team covering data, insight and programmes –the purpose of delivering Insights as a service, supporting every business function in their decision making.

  This role is pivotal to understanding business performance and customer behaviour to enable the business to grow & deliver future projects & plans, reporting into the MI & Insights manager but able to problem-solved and work with autonomy, and across many business functions including retail, trading, finance, marketing and operations.

  • Support in defining our overall data strategy, as we move into advanced analytics, re-platforming our data into the cloud.
  • Creating dashboards & data driven models that provide unique insight about customer demand, capacity, commercial & performance, highlighting risks and opportunities and providing high quality resourcing plans
  • Analyse our returning customer base, acquisition, store capacity, commercial proposition through key tools, including Power BI, Python & SQL.

  What you’ll need to have

  These are the essential skills or experience needed to succeed in this role.

  • A passion for data & insight, and the ability to communicate this to senior stakeholders
  • Analytical & problem-solving mindset – driven to identify issues and opportunities
  • Experience of key data tools, primarily SQL to extract and transform raw data, and Power-BI to visualise and model large data sets
  • Curiosity, problem solver, eager to continuously develop skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ambiguity
  • Experience in extracting, manipulating and modelling varied datasets

  • Skills in statistical analysis
  • Experience using Azure Databricks as a platform
  • Experience in the use the wider Microsoft Power platform
  • The ability to utilise Python for data analysis and automation
