Job Description

- Maintain a safe working environment
- Ensure all work practices within the area are performed to the relevant standards and procedures
- Applying the quality and continuous improvement system processes
- Promoting innovation, driving change for the better and promoting efficiencies where possible.
- Authorising the release of test results, evaluating control charts and accepting and rejecting results based on sound scientific judgement, and monitoring the quality of test results
- Assisting with writing and reviewing documentation such as laboratory methods and standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring laboratory investigations are raised and closed out in a timely manner
- Overseeing / providing training to the team
- Implementing workplace learning by; setting team member training and performance goals, ensuring team members are trained, competent, performance reviewed and supported in their career development.
- Supervision of staff and the prioritisation and allocation of work
- Coordinating with Internal and External clients
- Implementing the operational plan by managing staffing levels, labour hours and overtime, annual leave and sick leave, identifying Key Performance Indicators and contributing to risk management and contingency planning.
- Overseeing the maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Managing Laboratory stocks and consumables
- Make decisions on there own

About the role:
Microbiology Analysts at Level V conduct a wide range of routine and specialised tests where atypical samples may be involved. They have thorough understanding of the tests, underpinning scientific principles, systems and procedures so they can solve problems and troubleshoot. They perform complex tests and can multitask
