      Summary

      Responsible for identifying, developing and implementing energy policy recommendations. Represents SRP with internal and external audiences, applying specific industry knowledge and experience to advance policy objectives, facilitate customer and shareholder satisfaction while ensuring that SRP's business interests are served. Monitors and analyzes legislative, regulatory and other activities affecting industry interests; coordinates and conducts internal review of policy proposals; develops and recommends to SRP executive management positions on critical issues and strategies for implementation.

      What You'll Do

      • Informs SRP decision-makers of developing trends in government legislation and regulation.
      • Conducts quantitative and operational analysis of proposed legislative and regulatory initiatives in crafting policy recommendations.
      • Assists the General Manager and the General Manager's staff in developing positions on issues that can affect SRP's resources, operations and finances, aids in processing, formulating and securing agreement on public policy within SRP.
      • Provides information to identified audiences about emerging issues, threats and opportunities for SRP, to include changing business conditions, technologies, markets, regulatory or political environments, or changing entrants to the business.
      • Designs, assists and coordinates SRP strategic responses to current and emerging issues.
      • Prepares, analyses, interprets and presents technical reports to management orally or in writing.
      • Participates in and/or leads efforts of internal policy, resources and technical teams.

      Experience

      Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

      For Senior Level: Minimum five years utility-related experience in planning, environmental affairs, public affairs or finance preferred. Must be highly specialized in the area of utility regulation, economics and operations, especially as it relates to climate change, reregulation, rate structures and utility financing requirements.

      Education

      Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

      Hybrid Workplace

      SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
