  Position Summary:

  The Anesthesia Tech performs duties under the direct supervision of a qualified professional Registered Nurse and/or Anesthesiologist. They perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist the anesthesiologists in performing anesthetic procedures and performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies. Communicate with patients while helping prepare them for anesthesia, allay fears and elicit patient cooperation.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • Preferred: American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Certification
  • Preferred: 1 year patient care or anesthesia technician experience

  Essential Job Functions:

  • Assemble and maintain anesthesia supplies
  • Determines anesthesia supply and equipment needs for operating room
  • Completes quality checks
  • Inspects, maintains, cleans, and calibrates equipment daily prior to induction
  • Troubleshoot anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing nonfunctioning equipment for repair
  • Clean anesthesia machines, monitors, and equipment following infection control procedures
  • Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on hazardous materials and latex allergy items for anesthesia supplies
  • Participates in department Quality Improvement and Risk Management activities
  • Monitors daily temperature logs and eye wash station
