      We are seeking a Animal Research Associate with hands-on experience in in vivo biology to support early-stage drug discovery programs. This position plays a critical role in executing tightly controlled animal studies, collecting biological samples, and collaborating across scientific teams. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset to a dynamic lab environment.


      Job Type: Contract (1 year with possible extension)

      Location: South San Francisco, CA

      Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

      Pay: $32-37/hr (W-2)

      Note: Weekend flexibility required


      Key Responsibilities:

      • Perform or train colleagues in small laboratory animal handling
      • Conduct compound administration and dosing via multiple routes
      • Carry out blood and tissue collection, sampling, and clinical observations
      • Support animal ordering, husbandry oversight (including weekends), and perioperative care
      • Execute in vivo studies in collaboration with scientists, including monitoring equipment and obtaining formulated diets
      • Attend to facility emergencies and perform room checks during scheduled weekend shifts
      • Analyze and present experimental data; contribute to ongoing study refinement
      • Communicate effectively and collaborate across research and operations teams
      • Maintain accurate records and operate with minimal supervision


      Required Qualifications:

      • Associate degree with 3+ years, Bachelor's with 2+ years, or Master's with 1+ year of relevant in vivo experience in biology, pharmacology, animal science, or a related field
      • Strong hands-on skills in animal dosing, bleeding, handling, and tissue collection
      • Experience supporting studies in oncology, cardiometabolic diseases, or biologics
      • Demonstrated ability to independently manage experiments and multitask in a fast-paced environment
      • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team and matrixed setting
      • Scientific curiosity and a desire to understand biology and mechanisms of action
