    • Assists with overseeing a well-articulated educational program that is current, comprehensive, and consistent with Nutley Public Schools vision and mission, and ensures the implementation of the New Jersey Preschool Student Learning Standards and high quality preschool practices.

    • Assists and collaborates with educational partners and coordinates in the implementation of the curriculum including the evaluation of classroom instruction on a regular basis.

    • Fosters collaboration with community stakeholders and providers, building support for sustainability and helping to establish a consolidated early learning governance structure.

    • Assists in developing activities for parents that promote parent participation and involvement in Early Childhood education activities for their children.

    • Assists with the interpretation of the Early Childhood program to parents to strengthen understanding of the needs of Early Childhood students and the school's role in the students’ lives.

    • Assists with the reviews and recommendations for the assessments used for evaluating students throughout the school year and the data obtained from the assessments.

    • Assists, prepares and manages a budget that will provide for the instructional materials necessary for an Early Childhood program, for staff development for all Early Childhood staff, and for other needs necessary for an effective program.

    • Establishes and oversees curriculum in response to district goals and state requirements and assures that curriculum is implemented in the classroom.

    • Builds community partnerships, and child care programs to build collaborative relationships with community organizations that support positive child and family outcomes.

    • Engages with the teachers in developing a master schedule that utilizes staff and building resources to a maximum degree of effectiveness for the Early Childhood Programs.

    • Collaborates with administrators to ensure that the Early Childhood program and the curriculum integrate with other district programs and the curriculum content standards.

    • Ensures the coordination of services and articulation between early childhood and elementary levels of the instructional program.

    • Observes and evaluates the quality of instruction of teachers in all content areas and makes recommendations for continued employment of teachers, in accordance with code and Board policy.

    • Assists with the hiring, supervising, and ensuring evaluation of all in-district staff funded by the preschool programmatic budget

    • Assists with the development and implementation of the preschool budget, preschool plan, annual updates, and professional development plans.

    • Collaborates with all administrators to collect, analyze and interpret assessment results for dissemination to the Superintendent and Board of Education.

    • Maintains a collaborative working relationship with district administrators to ensure information exchange, coordination of efforts, and overall support for the decision-making process

    • Compliance with all state and federal mandates.

    • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent.

    • Coordinate all elements of a high-quality preschool program within the district, including partnerships with private providers and local Head Start agencies.

    • Supports the director in developing and implementing the preschool budget, three-year preschool program plan, annual updates, and professional development plans.

    • Supervise registration, recruitment, and outreach efforts.

    • Oversee contractual compliance with private providers and local Head Start agencies

    • Collaborate with the district's office of special services to ensure inclusive practices.

    • Facilitate transition initiatives in collaboration with early intervention programs and other administrators from preschool through third grade.

    • Conduct regular meetings with private providers and local Head Start agencies to foster collaboration and effective program implementation.

    • Oversee the implementation of the comprehensive preschool curriculum and performance-based assessments.

    • Provide assistance to staff responsible for implementing appropriate early childhood practices.

    • Administer strategies to help teachers and professionals optimize children's learning and development across all domains.

    • Position Summary: Provides assistance to the Director of Early Childhood in leadership, supervision, and coordination of the development, support and administration of the early childhood programming, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, and all related staff development within the district.

      Employee Qualifications:

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month work year; salary and benefits as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement; and all conditions established by the laws of the State of New Jersey, and policies and regulations established by the Board of Education (N.J.S.A. 18A:27-4 et seq.).

      Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supervising and evaluating preschool staff including teachers, instructional coaches, related service providers. This position is also responsible for school supervision as assigned in the absence of the Building administrator.

      Evaluation of Performance: The Supervisor of PEA Early Childhood Programs is evaluated by the Superintendent or Designee and is responsible for any other duties assigned by the Superintendent. Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education Policy.

      Additional Responsibilities: Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent may assign or delegate.
