Job summary
The anticoagulation service is looking to recruit two Band 5 nurses with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience to join the specialised nursing team.
Both vacancies are Band 5 training posts becoming a Band 6 when competencies are achieved. Further training to become a non-medical nurse prescriber will be available once competent. Both posts are full time 37.5 hours over 5 days Monday to Friday 8am -4pm and are based at Waters Meeting Health Centre.
After a period of training and competency assessment the post holders will work as an autonomous member of the team, delivering a safe and effective Anticoagulant monitoring service and be a source of specialist advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals. The post holders will provide services across Bolton including clinics and domiciliary visits.
Band 6 Specialist Nurses with anticoagulation experience for both posts will be considered. The non- medical prescribing qualification is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Integrated Community services Division in a specialist nurse role.
The main duties are to provide advice to support the assessment, planning and implementation of programmes of care in relation to anticoagulation and hypercoagulability states including:
To carry out specialist nursing procedures and be accountable for own professional actions. To undertake specialist education and training. To participate in research and clinical audits in the field of anticoagulation.
To complete anticoagulation competencies to achieve a Band 6 Anticoagulation Specialist Nurse . To complete the Non- Medical Nurse prescribing qualification once competent.
