What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Oversee the management and operation of the Appellate Services Administration (ASA)
- Supervise and evaluate direct subordinates, including the Appeals Board members and ASA Operations Manager
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and work processes for ASA
- Handle personnel matters including hiring, discipline, and performance evaluations
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona and in good standing
- Minimum of seven years of direct experience in the practice of law, including litigation or administrative tribunal experience
- Minimum of five years of supervisory or managerial experience
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and administrative rules relevant to major DES programs
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and communicate effectively
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with Unemployment Insurance, Supplemental Nutrition, Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Developmental Disabilities
- Direct experience in drafting and editing legal pleadings and memoranda
- Familiarity with public management principles and practices
- Skills in leading and motivating diverse teams
- Experience in conducting data analysis related to appeals processes
