Job Description
General Summary
Under limited supervision the Application & Compliance Analyst’s responsibilities encompass two major areas: 1) responsible for assisting the management and staff of Patient Financial Services as well as other Revenue Cycle partners in the selection, development, implementation and the effective/efficient use of the Revenue Cycle application systems, and 2) responsible for the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs for user training in all areas performing in the patient registration system. Maintains current Revenue Cycle applications by analyzing processes, researching issues, identifying solutions and other opportunities, and implementing changes to the application systems. Works directly with management and staff for the purpose of analyzing request changes, performs maintenance to the application systems, and develops Patient Access training goals and objectives. Maintains responsibility for training and continuing education of Patient Access staff on operational policies and procedures, third party requirements and regulatory compliance changes. Develops and maintains training materials and updates as necessary. Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a quality assurance program for the purpose of monitoring the accuracy of patient registration system transactions. Manages the daily operations and quality assurance/training personnel. Performs periodic quality and accuracy reviews of staff performance to identify individual retraining needs as well as departmental training opportunities. Provides user support by functioning as the liaison between Patient Registration and other departments for questions, problem solving, coordinating interdepartmental projects, etc. Supports the Patient Access Director by identifying and addressing operational issues based on report reviews and feedback from patients, physician office staff, physicians, and other Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) colleagues. Maintains excellent competencies in the registration policies and procedures per departmental guidelines.

Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Patient Financial Services Director
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent requires. Prefer B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Knowledge of McKesson STAR application is required. Minimum of five years of responsible healthcare experience, three of which are in Patient Access and/or Patient Accounting in a hospital setting, required. At least 2 years of hands on experience with applications systems including table and profile set-up and maintenance. At least three years experience in healthcare related teaching and quality assurance. Thorough knowledge of compliance requirements, third party payer requirements and audit procedures and processes, quality control, performance improvement, and computer system required. Current CPAT or CPAM certification is preferred.
Skill and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of data process in general, and application system in particular, as acquired through formal training and work experience. Must possess analytical ability to solve complex problems associated with the set-up and use of the application systems. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrates ability to work independently and set priorities. Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to execute training delivery.
