Application Engineer

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Application engineers, specialising in a wide variety of projects consisting of VMware Virtual Infrastructure designs, RedHat, Active Directory & Exchange Migrations, High Availability solutions ranging from single host environments to multi host clustered technologies. These include Microsoft Clustered Services and VMware technologies and understand virtualization, Linux and cloud technologies.
To join our growing team of IT experts in delivering high quality IT services to our government customers. We love to work with people who have a passion ideally from an operational design background. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously and within a team on site environment to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPI’s and SLA’s. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues.
Your Role and Responsibilities;
· RedHat / CentOS Linux Server Administration – patching, firewalls, hardening to STIG & CIS L1/L2 standards, file systems, application management.
· VMware vCenter Administration
· VMware Horizon and AppVolumes Administration
· VDI Desktops Pools, Golden Images, DEM, Horizon Client, patching
· Niche Applications Support - ArcGIS, FME - Administration and Licensing
· Server Administration within Microsoft tiered management structure
· AD / DHCP / DNS / GPO / PKI Administration
· DevOps tools integration - Jenkins, Gitlab, Hashicorp Vault, Ansible, Terraform
· Collaboration and documentation (HLDs, LLDs, Build Guides) using JIRA /Confluence/SharePoint
You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges. We operate a high paced and exciting collaborative working environment where the work you do is normally customer facing on site and has demonstrable real world impact. The role will require working remotely and on secure Government sites. You will be expected to contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation and, while primarily supporting the operational service, also be able to provide material to support change projects if required.
Keeping an eye on the technology landscape is essential, too – identification of new and relevant technologies to solve problems and make improvements is part of the job.
