Job Description

- Supporting base safety oversight of assigned base.
- Prepare and participate in the Base Safety Action Groups (Base SAG) as directed by the Base Captain.
- Providing safety-related data for use in the Base SAG as required.
- Assessment and elevation of safety reports to the relevant Lead Investigator as appropriate in accordance with the FOSM, Section 4.2.3.1, and Safety Report Escalation Process.
- The oversight, review and management of Flight Operations Air Safety Reports (ASRs) in base; investigating safety reports up to and including a predetermined ERC score of 100 which require verification or exploratory investigation in accordance with the Safety Investigation Manual (SIM). Additionally, the Flight Ops Safety team may allocate investigations from other bases as required based on regional workload.
- Gathering information from base safety reports and available data to produce a monthly report or presentation with analysis for use by the Base Captain and/or Base SAG to achieve required base safety management.
- Writing articles, overseen by FOSC mentor, for base newsletters to promote the improvement of base safety, safety reporting rates and Just Culture and additionally disseminating network information as directed by FOSCs.
- The management of the Company SMS safety reporting in base and facilitating feedback as directed by the Flight Operations Safety Captains.
- Providing written feedback to the crew as directed by the Flight Operations Safety Captain/Officer or FDM Manager.
- The BSP reports directly to his/her mentor FOSC when performing safety investigations.

!*!An opportunity has arisen for a new Base Safety Pilot at BER. Base Safety Pilots report to the Base Captain for their respective base. In terms of safety aspects of the role, the Base Safety Pilot is directly responsible to his/her Flight Operations Safety Captain (FOSC) mentor. The position focuses on supporting the Base Captain in safety management and operational efficiency measures, as well as additional tasks assigned by the Base Captain.
The position will attract appropriate remuneration and office days and will be rostered to allow local base management to operate effectively. The successful applicant will remain on their current roster pattern.
