      Position Summary and Qualifications:

      The Office of Admission at Saint Joseph’s University, Lancaster Location, is seeking an Application Reader for the admission application reading cycle.

      This part-time position assists in the holistic review of applications for degree and certificate programs offered at Saint Joseph’s University, Lancaster Location.

      All reading and review is web-based and completed remotely on a flexible schedule. Application Readers are expected to commit 20-25 hours per week in support of the recruiting efforts for all programs with Spring, Summer and Fall start terms.

      Well-developed computer skills and strong writing and analytical abilities are essential; we are looking for candidates who can read carefully and quickly. A high level of confidentiality, the ability to meet deadlines, demonstrated ability to work independently, and access to a strong internet connection are necessary. Application Readers are expected to perform with a high level of integrity and professionalism.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

      • Serve as the first reader of applications for programs offered at our Lancaster Location of SJU. This includes reviews of academic credentials, recommendations, activities and essays.

      • Provide evaluations of credentials utilizing established criteria and professional judgment.

      • Complete accurate data entry related to transcripts, test results, license submissions and prior coursework.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Required:

      • A Bachelor's Degree and one to three years of reading experience in college admission are required.

      • Experience using Slate CRM or similar CRM system.

      • In lieu of previous reading experience, prior experience as a school based counselor or independent consultant/counselor can be substituted.

      • Well developed computer skills and strong writing and analytical abilities are essential; we are looking for candidates who can read carefully and quickly.

      • Familiarity with secondary school transcripts is required and knowledge of various educational systems is required.

      • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.

      Preferred:

      • Experience using Slate CRM Slate Application Reader and Reader Review Forms.

      • Experience as an Admission Counselor, Academic Advisor or similar position.

      Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

      • Must be able to read electronic documents via computer screen for extended periods of time.

      • Flexible work hours with the expectation of moving completed applications to the next stage of review prior to the next day’s traditional work hours.
