      JPMorgan Chase’s Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR) team conducts research in cutting-edge emerging technologies, such as Quantum Computing and Communication, Cloud Computing and Networking, Immersive Technology (including Spatial Computing and Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR)), Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing (Ubicomp), Internet of Things (IoT), Security and Privacy, Computer Vision, and Edge Computing.

      Job summary

      The GTAR team is seeking a passionate Immersive Technology engineer to perform applied research and development of novel solutions in Immersive Technology, Spatial Computing, and Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR). As a key member of the GT Applied Research R&D team, you will work closely with researchers, internal project teams, senior management, and external communities alike to advance these research focus areas in a way that is beneficial to the technical teams in the company. You will assist with investigations into these areas, produce research solutions in collaboration with the researchers and internal project teams, and contribute to the firm’s intellectual property and scientific reputation by producing patent applications and scholarly articles.

      Job responsibilities

      • To lead the engineering and delivery of novel proof-of-concept solutions proposed by researchers to problems faced by internal project teams
      • Involved in all aspects of the engineering including analyzing requirements, managing the development process, incorporating architectural standards into application design, documentation of prototype code, and developing or enhancing software application modules.
      • To advance the field of Immersive Technology in areas including Immersive Visualization and Analytics, Privacy and Security, and/or Accessibility, User Experience, 3D Interaction, Collaboration, and Learning and Training
      • To be part of technical partnerships with external organizations, such as academic institutions and leading technology firms
      • To contribute to JPMC’s IP by pursuing necessary protections of generated IP
      • To help establishing JPMC’s reputation in the scientific field via publication of select results in prestigious venues

      Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

      • Strong knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines: Cloud Computing and Networking, Immersive Technology, Spatial Computing, Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR /VR), Internet of Things (IoT), Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing, User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Security and Privacy, Computer Vision, and Edge Computing
      • Industrial experience within a technology R&D organization, innovation lab, academic institution, or equivalent
      • Comfortable working in a research environment where requirements evolve over time
      • Strong programming skills in relevant languages such as Javascript, C#, C++ and Java
      • Experience with one or more or the following: web-based front-end frameworks, server-side development on AWS/Azure/etc, Web-based 3D and WebXR, Unity, iOS native development with ARKit, Android native development with ARCore
      • Strong passion, awareness, and familiarity with emerging technology paradigms
