The Clark County Assessor’s Office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Appraisal Data Collector I/II position. As a member of our team, you will perform routine data collection to assist Property Appraisers in the valuation for industrial, commercial, residential or personal property for taxation purposes. The ideal candidate will verify and conduct field and aerial inspections, interpret and document required information, utilize a sketching program, and transfer data into a Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system. In addition, you must be able to effectively communicate with taxpayers. In addition, the candidate would need to know how to use custom and standard office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The candidate will be part of the Assessor's Office, Appraisal Division.

Appraisal Data Collector I: $24.07 - $37.36 Hourly
Appraisal Data Collector II: $26.05 - $40.33 Hourly
The Appraisal Data Collector I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Appraisal Data Collector II.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Appraisal Data Collector I – Equivalent to graduation from high school AND a minimum of two (2) years experience in an appraisal or similar environment performing discovery, measurement, verification and/or other technical functions related to property appraisal and assessment. Possession of an appraisal license, certification or other applicable appraiser credential may be substituted for the required education and/or experience on a year-for year basis. Experience on computer-assisted sketching/drawing programs preferred.
Appraisal Data Collector II – In addition to the above, a minimum of two (2) additional years of experience in an appraisal or similar environment performing discovery, measurement, verification and/or other technical functions related to property appraisal and assessment.

Working Conditions: Exposure to outside weather conditions, construction sites, animals, traffic.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of offer.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.Performs discovery and measurement of miscellaneous improvements to property, including flatwork, walls and fences, patio covers, pools, sprinklers and other minor improvements. Drives a personal or County motor vehicle to inspect sites and attend meetings. During revaluation cycle confirms existing data, notes any differences from existing data, measures added miscellaneous improvements. Measures and notes any improvements to be classified by certified appraiser. Under the direction of certified appraiser, performs data input of appraisal data. Converts manual sketches and data to new computer-assisted sketching program. Discovers and lists business personal property through direct field visits, telephone calls, and correspondence. Gathers and confirms sales data to include use of public records, correspondence, telephone and field visits. Visits sites to determine improvement location as parcel cuts occur. Prepares and maintains necessary records, work papers; prepares reports and/or other data as required. Performs miscellaneous field tasks, such as visiting new subdivisions, obtaining model brochures, option lists, and pertinent data to be used by certified appraisers. Acts as information source to property owners and other interested parties in the field, at the public counter, and over the telephone; explains appraisal and appeal procedures to taxpayers. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.Mobility to work in typical office environment and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Position requires extensive field work to visit various sites involving walking, standing, stooping; occasionally lifting or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc. Manual dexterity for using measuring equipment and personal computers.
