- BPS Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) and hold a minimum 2:2 first degree in Psychology, or an equivalent conversion course
- Graduate member BPS or eligibility
- Experience of providing mental health care and /or working within NHS services
- Knowledge or experience of graduate level or post-graduate research
- Delivering brief CBT such as Sleep hygiene, Problem solving,
- Behavioural exposure, Behavioural activation
- Risk assessment and management
- Plan, prioritise & evaluate their work
- Communicate well at all levels, where the information may be sensitive and complex and where there may be barriers to understanding.
- Ability to communicate effectively and engage positively with staff, patients and relatives
- Ability to use negotiation skills
- Work as part of a team
- work independently in the community
- Travel independently daily
- Mental illness and disorder including PD (EUPD in particular) psychosis and mood disorders
- An understanding of the principles of equal opportunities as it relates to staff and patients and able to demonstrate personal commitment to challenging discrimination and promoting equalities

- The role requires the post holder to sign up to the Automatic Renewal DBS service

- Is able to work with children and vulnerable adults
- Ability to travel for meetings across a range of sites in Southampton/Portsmouth/Hampshire.
- For posts which require a professional registration, postholders hold a valid up to date registration with their professional body.
- For posts where postholders are required to drive as part of their role they hold a valid full driving licence which enables them to drive in the UK

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for apprentice Clinical Associate Psychologist training in Community Mental Health Recovery Teams in Portsmouth. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about using their clinical experience and knowledge to undertake CAP apprentice training which will enable them to deliver evidence based psychological interventions to adults across our community. It is an exciting time to join our service as we are currently shaping and transforming our menu of psychological interventions and the way we deliver them. CAPs are central to our new ways of working and are highly valued within our service.
This role is a full time position; with 2 days a week at university.

Main duties of the job
To improve the mental health of people within the agreed locality by undertaking specialised psychological assessments, contributing to bespoke clinical formulations, delivering structured, evidence-based and psychologically-informed interventions and undertaking agreed research activity, all appropriate to the post-holder's level of training, competence and experience.
To work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, under supervision and direction from a registered Practitioner Psychologist and within the scope of practice set out within the Apprenticeship Standard for Clinical Associate Psychologists and their own training.
All clinical work will be overseen and reviewed regularly through supervision provided by an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (other qualified healthcare professionals may also contribute to supervision as deemed appropriate by the relevant Strategic Lead for Psychology and Psychological Therapies).

About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by the end of 2024.
Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.
The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on the day the trust is formed. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
