      CONCRETE CARPENTER APPRENTICE

      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Apprentice Carpenter will assist to build, erect, install, dismantle, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects. Working on a team is essential. Will be mentored by our Journeyman Carpenters, Foreman, and General Foreman etc.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Assist other crew members in assembling and fastening materials together to build structure's, wood and/or metal formwork, by joining materials with the most appropriate bolt, nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
      • Assist other crew members by using hand and power tools to assemble and/or disassemble forms, formwork, scaffolds, and other materials as needed to build concrete structures.
      • Climbs ladders, concrete formwork, and any other structures required to assemble and/or disassemble formwork and to gain access to elevated areas.
      • Assist during concrete placement, including vertical walls by supporting person vibrating the wall, handling pump hose, and other task as required.
      • Assist during concrete placement, including concrete slab placement by mucking concrete, relocating screed pipes, and/or running concrete pump hose when needed.
      • Assist other crew members by gathering materials to assemble and/or disassemble necessary tasks.
      • Follows and performs functions in accordance with company and OSHA safety guidelines.
      • Has a basic knowledge in working with wood and other construction materials.
      • Has basic carpentry skills to cut, shape, fit or join wood and other construction materials.
      • This position requires consistent, timely, and predictable attendance.
      • Has the ability to tie rebar as needed.
      • Has the ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
      • Is a strong team player.
      • Is self-motivated and a self-starter.
      • Other duties as determined and required by project needs.

      KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

      • 0 – 4 years’ experience in commercial or residential construction
      • Basic knowledge of various hand and power tools
      • Basic knowledge of various formwork systems and components
      • Ability to listen and follow detailed instructions.
      • Basic understanding of a tape measure and/or other measuring devices.
      • Ability to use power tools safely (Circular Saw, Cordless Drills, Reciprocating Saw, Hammer Drills, Handheld Grinder, etc.)
      • Can perform and complete a task on time under direction of other crew members.
      • Has a strong safety-first mindset.
      • Has the desire and willingness to learn and take direction.

      Physical Requirements

      • It is necessary to be able to climb scaffolding, formwork, and ladders.
      • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
      • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at any given time.
      • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
      • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
      • Must have ability for a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
      • Must have good physical stamina
