- Work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in providing a dietetic assessments and treatments for a selected caseload of patients, under the supervision of a registered dietitian.
- Provide nutritional assessment for individual or group interventions as identified by the dietitian.
- Develop by the end of the apprenticeship period the ability to work independently and autonomously with robust clinical reasoning.
- Under regular supervision of registered dietitian to assist in treatment of individual patients and groups, on the wards, in the dietetic department.
- Through the apprenticeship to develop understanding of all elements of the dietetic role. Under the Registered dietitian to assess, plan, provide intervention and evaluation of dietetic input.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary initiatives which have a nutritional component.
- Undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the Dietetic service.
- To participate in clinical governance and quality improvement projects under the guidance of a registered dietitian.
- To take responsibility for risk management and health and safety in the workplace by adhering to and promoting Health and Safety regulations, trust and departmental policies.

- Evidence of recent study experience (within last 5 years)
- Has been accepted onto a level 6/7 degree dietetic apprenticeship with a commissioned university (apply following successful application for this role).
- Health and Science degree at level 6 - upper second- class honours
- Experience of informal teaching
- Basic experience of evaluating dietetic service and clinical audit
- Proven experience of working as a dietetic assistant
- Good knowledge of clinical nutrition
- Experience of Multidisciplinary working and partnership working with other professionals
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of presenting and teaching/leading groups
- Good command of English
- Independent working

- demonstrates behaviours and attitudes to support Trust's Vision of 'we care'

Job summary
This is an Apprenticeship / developmental role.
The trainee will work towards progression into the post of B5 Rotational Dietitian through successful completion of the Dietetic Apprenticeship Programme which includes the attainment of Degree Standard Dietitian Level 7.
Your own personal development will be supported through regular supervision; competency based learning opportunities and access to external training as appropriate.
This post is based at St Richards Hospital and will join our team of dietitians providing services to St Richards Hospital (approx. 500 beds). The department is well respected and has clinical speciality areas in acute medicine, critical care, diabetes, elderly care, gastroenterology, home enteral tube feeding, oncology, paediatrics, stroke/neurology, bariatrics and surgery.
Chichester is located on the South coast with the sea and South Downs within easy reach. It is a vibrant and lively place to live and work with excellent transport links to Portsmouth, London and the rest of the South coast.
