Salary - The salary for this role is set at £12.45 per hour.
Contract type - This is an Apprentice position.
Location - This role is based at our Magna Park National Distribution Centre in Milton Keynes and covers our complete portfolio of buildings across the Partnership.
Interviews - Will be held week commencing 16th June in person at Magna Park National Distribution Centre.
You must have achieved a minimum of three GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science at grades A*- C or 9 - 4.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent attention to detail
A positive, proactive approach to learning
Works well as part of a team
Keen interest in pursuing a career as an Electrician
Work experience/prior knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you aspire to a career as an Electrician? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to learn to become a professional Electrician within the John Lewis Partnership. We’ll give you all the training you need to kick-start your career. You’ll gain the qualifications you need to do the job and the opportunity of securing a permanent Electrician role with us at the end of your apprenticeship.
This 4 year programme will equip you with the skills and knowledge to competently act as an Electrician within the Partnership whilst achieving a Level 3 apprenticeship. We are looking for Apprentices to join our team based at Milton Keynes. You will join a cohort starting in September 2025. You will work alongside various skilled Partners, who will support you through the programme and help you put into practice what you learn. Your Line Manager and your Training Coordinator from Bedford College will be working with you and supporting you during your Apprenticeship.
From the beginning, you will start to work through various elements of your programme. This will include a mix of ‘on-the-job’ and ‘off-the-job’ training. You’ll meet regularly with your Line Manager and Training Coordinator to plan your learning.
During the 4 years of the Apprenticeship, you will follow a 1 day per week release structure and during this you will attend Bedford College. You should consider your travel distance to the location you are applying for. Access to transport would be beneficial..
What will you learn as part of your apprenticeship?
Electrician Technical and Practical Skills;
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables, switchgear and infrastructure in electrical systems
- Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understand and apply the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
- Oversee and organise the work environment
