      Job summary

      *This is a fixed term contract for 14 months* We as a Trust encourage and support your progression beyond your Apprenticeship and will be here to help!

      We are looking for an Apprentice to join our busy hospital in our Trauma & Orthopaedic ward as we continue to grow and expand our teams. With significant investment and expansion planned for Trauma & Orthopaedics it is an exciting time to join the wards!

      We are very proud of our Apprentice success rates, with 92% of Apprentices successfully obtaining a substantive post within the Trust at the end of their Apprenticeship contract, and 98% of Apprentices having further plans in place following their Apprenticeship e.g. going on to further education, joining the NNUH staff bank or obtaining employment at another organisation.

      Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria:

      All applicants must be:

      • Aged 16+
      • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
      • Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
      • Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship

      Qualifications and Skills Required:

      • Good general standard of education
      • 4 GCSE's at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) subject to the job specification
      • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
      • Good communication and interpersonal skills
      • Good IT skills

      Full time: 37.5 hours per week

      Main duties of the job

      You don't need any healthcare experience to join us, and this role is the perfect entry point into the NHS.

      As an Apprentice, you can expect no two days to be the same. You will support patients through their treatment, sharing their experiences and making a real difference in their journey back to health as part of a tight-knit team of healthcare professionals.

      With the ongoing support of your team, and our outstanding training and development, you'll be able to take your career anywhere you want - whether that's having more responsibility, working your way up to a health care assistant or even becoming a team leader or registered health professional. You will be supported in and learning and training to develop you skill and progress your skills into the healthcare sector.

      As an Apprentice, you will be supported through the apprentice Programme, requiring completion of set modules, with help from our dedicated Clinical Educator and Practice Development teams. Upon completion of the modules, you can then progress on the pathway of a healthcare assistant.

      • To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Nurse who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
      • To deliver care and carry out duties as specified within the Trusts Approved core task list for Healthcare assistants.
      • To report to Registered Nurse any patient who gives cause for concern or any observed changes in the patients condition.
      • To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure the patient receives appropriate care.
      • To participate in the admission process under the supervision of the Registered Nurse
      • Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care.
      • To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a Registered Nurse.
      • To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered Nurse maintaining confidentiality at all times.
      • To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
      • To keep the clinical area clean and tidy maintaining a safe environment.
