      Req#: 8908

Cornwall Council’s Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team (DoLS) are seeking to recruit two permanent AMHPs into the team one of which is due to a colleague moving to one of our other Mental Health Social Work Teams in Cornwall.

The DoLS Team consists of ten AMHPs (most of whom who are also DoLS Best Interest Assessors) and provides a duty service from 9am to 4pm providing support for those who are primarily over 65 with some support for young people.

The successful candidate will hold an AMHP warrant and ideally a Best Interest Assessor (BIA) qualification however it’s not essential since we tend to balance the work depending upon the teams skills and preferences.

Our flexible working policy means that the successful candidate can be based anywhere within the county and our use of Teams Telephony means that AMHPs on duty don’t need to be in an office - they just need to be available on Teams.

The team is not locality based and so an AMHP on Duty will be expected to be able to travel anywhere in the county. For further information please contact either Martin Horrill (Interim AMHP Team Lead) or Lynn Counter (DoLS Team Lead) both of whom can be reached via 01872 322222 – then ask for them by name.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and following safer recruitment principles to help make sure our staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a vital part of creating a safe and positive environment and making a commitment to keeping all service users safe from harm.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

We are happy to talk about flexible working options .
