      About our opportunity

This process is being used to fill multiple vacancies. A merit pool may be established and used to fill similar vacancies for up to 18 months.

      About our team

Immigration | Immigration Compliance Operations | Immigration Compliance Operations | Field Operations, Sponsor Monitoring & Removals

Do you enjoy working in operational roles and enjoy working with dynamic and challenging content? Are you interested in working in a role that has a direct impact on Government priorities and has a direct impact on the Australian community?

We have a number of vacancies within our Immigration Compliance Operations Division that contribute to managing and upholding the integrity of Australia's migration program. These roles will provide the right people with unique and challenging opportunities to develop and enhance their skills, whilst working on complex cases and issues within a high profile and politically sensitive environment.

Please visit our website for more information about the Department of Home Affairs or Australian Border Force

      Our ideal candidate

Immigration Compliance Operations Division is looking for team oriented, collaborative and hardworking people who are flexible, resilient, demonstrate professionalism and can exercise sound judgement, in responding to operational activities that are aimed at upholding the integrity of Australia's migration program and helping build a safe, secure and prosperous Australia.

Given our roles are a current key priority for the Australian Government; the operational tempo is significantly heightened. Officers will need to integrate quickly (supported with appropriate training) to work effectively with other agencies in a dynamic, operational environment.

Opportunities are available in the following teams within the Division

      Field Operations
Field Operations is an operational enforcement capability of the Immigration Compliance Operations Division with a multi-faceted, field-based enforcement capability that is responsive to operational priorities. The Field Operations Branch harnesses specialist enforcement and investigative capabilities to target serious and organised crime, serious and deliberate non-compliance and systematic vulnerabilities that threaten the integrity of Australia’s trade and migration systems. Field Operations Officers conduct a range of intelligence informed, risk-based operations improving compliance with immigration laws by locating and detaining unlawful non-citizens who are identified as a risk to the safety of the community or who pose a threat.

      Sponsor Monitoring Unit
The Sponsor Monitoring Unit undertakes critical monitoring, compliance and administrative activities regarding sponsorship obligations of standard business and temporary activity sponsors relating to the Temporary Skills Shortage (subclass 482) visa program and other 400 series visas. The unit forms part of the new Immigration Compliance Operations Division, and will deliver on the Government’s priorities of tackling migrant worker exploitation (MWE) and misuse of the visa system. Sponsor Monitoring Officers educate employers and visa sponsors to understand their obligations under the Migration Act and promote compliance with these requirements through employer awareness visits and targeted compliance activities.

      Removal Operations
Staff who work in the Removal Operations Branch contribute to the integrity of the Australian migration program by facilitating the removal of unlawful non-citizens who have no lawful pathway to remain in Australia. The removal of unlawful non-citizens is a key enforcement tool in supporting integrity within the migration program and sends a strong message deterring those considering exploiting Australia’s borders. The Branch has a national footprint, and has roles available in all capital cities.
