Develop library programs and services geared for the Arabic speaking community in alignment with DPL’s mission, vision, values, and programming guidelines.
Audit and evaluate Arabic programs in partnership with our Strategy and Evaluation Department.
Assist with proofreading translated by Communications and Community Engagement Department materials in Arabic.
Meet with community groups, service providers and other agencies and customers to solicit input and develop programs.
Work closely with the Mobile Services Department to coordinate outreach to Arabic speaking communities.
Familiarity with Denver communities, including neighborhood demographics, trends, needs of Arabic speaking communities, local community organizations, and libraries.
Understanding of Cultural Humility.
Familiarity with Google Suite software and the ability to embrace the challenge of learning new software and technology.
Ability to make decisions, problem solve, and work collaboratively across the entire organization.
Skill in planning, organizing, evaluating, and prioritizing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Skill in observing and responding to changing community trends.
Ability to apply creative solutions to problems as part of a collaborative team effort.
Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
Experience multitasking in busy environments while demonstrating a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness in working with customers, coworkers, and community.
Experience planning and facilitating virtual meetings or programming.
A reliable form of transportation.
Fluent in Arabic in both written and verbal communication.

The Denver Public Library is hiring an Arabic Service Administrator for the Cultural Inclusivity Department.

About the Cultural Inclusivity Department
The Cultural Inclusivity Services Department, a part of the Public Services Division, collaborates with Denver's multicultural community to create equitable opportunities where everyone thrives. We focus on fostering an inclusive environment within the library's locations through programs and services. We work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to design services to serve the community. We are active in the community participating in outreach events and meeting with community members and organizations. Plaza, one of the department’s main programs, has been an important element of Denver Public Library’s programming for fifteen years, and takes place at ten library branches and online. Plaza creates inclusive spaces for people from all over the world to connect with resources and meet new people by offering low-barrier spaces for language practice, citizenship exam preparation, legal help, technical assistance, resource navigation, and more. Cultural Inclusivity’s dedicated Spanish Services Administrator creates opportunities for the Spanish speaking community to engage with the library. About this position
In this new position, you will use our values of Connection, Curiosity, Equity, Stewardship, and Welcoming to guide and shape decisions. Work collaboratively with DPL departments and individuals to develop a holistic vision for programming while prioritizing equity in all conversations and decisions. Help coordinate larger system-wide programs and focuses as needed. In collaboration with branches and departments, develop programs that align with DPL values and programming focus areas. Build positive, collaborative relationships with library staff, and library departments, and our community members. Maintain and develop relationships with city partners and organizations. Participate in city-wide initiatives. Develop and manage a yearly budget. Assist with presenter payment tickets and requisitions. Answer and route internal and external emails regarding programming services. Work closely with other program administrators, coordinators, and managers.
The Arabic Services Administrator’s work will vary from day-to-day. Typical tasks include visiting DPL locations, managing the budget, creating and amending documents, and meeting with both internal and external partners.

This position will be approximately 50% remote, and will require one evening per week and occasional weekends.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, or a related field.
Experience Requirement
Three (3) years of professional or technical level experience planning the administrative aspects of a program(s) or training program participants and/or volunteers. (Some positions may require experience in a specific program area.)
Education & Experience Equivalency
One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
