      Description

      The Residence Life department at Rockhurst University has an opening for an Area Coordinator position. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with the Associate Director of Residence Life and other University administrators to serve as the primary resource for the non-residence hall upperclass student housing facilities including THV, Rock Row, and Kateri. This will involve close coordination with the Assistant Director of Residence Life and Resident Directors in the overall development of the residence hall program. Other responsibilities include residential education, staff supervision, crisis management, on-call duty and availability after hours and weekends, disciplinary conferences, building safety and security, community development, staff selection and training, front desk operations and staffing, programming, assessment, and committee assignments. The position also must be sensitive to student’s needs, conduct weekly Resident Assistant (RA) meetings, attend regular Residence Life and Student Development staff meetings, and provide campus wide on-duty/on-call coverage on a rotating schedule.

      This position requires that the incumbent be an effective communicator, time manager, and have strong technology skills. The position is responsible for maintenance of data in multiple electronic systems and that data must be maintained in an accurate and timely fashion. This position requires some evening, night, and weekends as necessary, along with rotation regarding on-call for Residence life. The successful candidate will have the personal qualities that exemplify the University’s Jesuit character, mission, and commitment to excellence.       REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Bachelor’s degree; master’s in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or a related field of student development preferred
      • Minimum of two years of experience in Residence Life or a related field
      • Experience in designing, coordinating, and implementing residential education programs
      • Experience in student advising and leadership development
      • Experience in major event planning and management (conference services preferred)
      • Experience in Code of Conduct investigating, adjudication, and education
      • Supervisory experience with undergraduate students, with graduate student or full-time professional supervision preferred
      • Valid driver’s license is required
      • Ability to work in periodic evening, overnight and weekend hours and to travel for occasional conferences and recruitment trips
      • Ability to manage on-call responsibilities
      • This position is live-on and housing is provided
