The Opportunity: Canadian Natural is seeking an Area Geologist to join its Calgary office. As the Area Geologist, you will be a key player in a dynamic and collaborative team of geoscientists and engineers, focused on optimizing and expanding production within a given area. You will use your proven experience of integrating geologic interpretations to develop current and future land bases, monitor competitor activity for new opportunities, and explore innovative technologies as they arise to unlock value for the company. The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable and capable of working in a high pace environment where multitasking different priorities is essential. As an energetic self-starter, you also have exceptional interpersonal/communication skills, a positive can-do attitude, enjoy a challenge and thrive in a team environment. Key Accountabilities: - Work in a team environment to identify opportunities in areas with vast growth potential - Create high quality geologic interpretations with other geologists, geophysicists, and petrophysicists - Work with multidisciplinary teams to plan and execute large horizontal well drilling programs - Evaluate strategic A&D opportunities as they arise - Integrate geologic data with production to identify optimization/workover opportunities Other Details: - Job location: Calgary, Alberta - Shift schedule: 5x2 - Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day - Competitive salary, stock options, stock savings plan and benefits Skills & Qualifications: - A minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Geology with 8+ years of petroleum geology experience - P.Geo. designation with APEGA, or eligible to register - Excellent business aptitude and acumen - Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization, and team leadership skills - Strong understanding of Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin stratigraphy and its clastic/carbonate depositional environments - Experience planning and drilling horizontal wells - Knowledge of the Triassic formations (Montney and Charlie Lake) is preferable - Fluency in software such as AccuMap, GeoGraphix, Petrel, Tableau, and Microsoft Office.
