      Sodexo is seeking a dynamic and motivated Area Operations Manager to oversee the operations at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. This is a job near beautiful, San Diego, California. It is the largest Marine Corp installation in the United States. In this Area Operations Manager role, you will function as the in-unit leader and provide support of food operations, performance improvement, develop plans, and networking within other Sodexo segments to bring support to all Camp Pendleton Mess Halls.

      Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, the Corps' largest West Coast expeditionary training facility, encompasses more than 125,000 acres of Southern California terrain. Located approximately 38 miles from downtown San Diego in North County and 82 miles south of Los Angeles, Camp Pendleton has been the largest employer in North San Diego County for more than 60 years. Camp Pendleton is one of the Department of Defense's busiest installations and offers a broad spectrum of training facilities for many active and reserve Marine, Army, and Navy units, as well as national, state and local agencies.

      The Base is home to the I Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Logistics Group and many tenant units, including Marine Corps Installations-West, 1st Marine Raider Battalion, Wounded Warrior Battalion-West, Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Marine Aircraft Group 39, Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego's Weapons & Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps and Army Reserve Forces, the Navy's Assault Craft Unit 5, a Naval Hospital and 1st Dental Battalion. The coastal and mountain terrain support a variety of military training.

      The successful candidate will:

      • provide strategic leadership to the respective units within the system to maintain client satisfaction and retention
      • monitor day to day operations by planned and unplanned visits to each operating account of the system
      • plan projects, implement new processes, client interactions, and new technology to ensure sufficient resources
      • develop business plan and budget w/each account GM that supports the System and District goals; review and analyze financial statements to ensure attainment of financial goals for both the client and Sodexo
      • develop and maintain client and customer relationships
      • ensure HACCP, regulatory and standards compliance to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Sodexo / System Client(s) policies and procedures

      Position Summary

      Seeks and develops potential new business leads within an assigned geographic area. Visits and inspects current accounts on a regular bases. Monitors cost control programs. Investigates areas that do not meet Sodexo standards and recommends improvement strategies to GM. Initiates strategic action plans with the GM. Assists DM/GM in re-negotiating terms of contract during contract renewals. Assists management team in developing account business plans to enhance customer service, facility layout and design, account profitability and retention, and client and customer satisfaction.

      Qualifications & Requirements

      Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experienceBasic Management Experience - 5 yearsBasic Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in operations
