- Tailor Stories to Audiences & Platforms: Translate brand narratives into compelling content for distinct audience segments and platform behaviors.
- Ensure Brand & Platform Consistency: Maintain high-quality standards across all motion and video outputs, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, and proper formatting for each platform.
- Design Motion-First Social & Online Video Content: Concept, design, and animate paid social media and video assets across channels (e.g., Meta, TikTok, YouTube). Ensure creative output aligns with platform design trends and brand strategy.
- Design Animated Banner Ads: Create static and animated banner ads (e.g., HTML5, GIF) for paid media campaigns across display networks.
- Edit for Owned Digital Channels: Own video editing needs for owned and operated channels (e.g., website, email, in-store screens), delivering content that supports both brand storytelling and performance goals.
- Develop Scalable Video & Motion Templates: Create modular templates that allow for streamlined versioning and rapid adaptation across multiple campaigns and channels.
- Lead Cross-Functional & External Partnerships: Partner closely with marketers, designers, copywriters, and external production vendors to bring integrated campaigns and storytelling moments to life.
- Maintain Organized & Accountable Workflows: Proactively manage workload priorities using project management tools, communicating timelines and risks clearly while balancing multiple deliverables. Establish and follow best practices for file management, version control, and asset delivery.
- Lead Video & Motion Innovation: Act as a team leader to stay current and educate others on motion design and social trends. Propose new creative approaches, formats, and tools that drive engagement and push boundaries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Video Editing or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in video editing and motion design, ideally within an agency environment
- Strong portfolio showcasing video and motion design work, with high taste-level and clear storytelling
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator), HTML5, Frame.io, and DaVinci Resolve; Adobe Experience Cloud proficiency preferred. Strong working knowledge of Figma and experience working within design systems
- Ability to concept and execute motion design from scratch with very strong eye for typography and graphic design
- Deep experience and strong understanding of digital video best practices for social media and O&O platforms
- Comfortable using project management tools (Workfront preferred) to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented, organized, and an excellent communicator

This is a 6-month plus contract to perm position based at our corporate headquarters in Chicago’s West Fulton Market District with a hybrid work schedule.
A shuttle to and from Ogilvy Transportation and Union Station is provided, as well as subsidized parking in our buildings attached garage.
Position Summary:
The Art Director, Video & Motion Design reports to the Creative Director and brings storytelling to life through engaging, design-forward motion content. This role is responsible for concepting, designing, and editing short-form video and motion assets across paid social media, digital/banner advertising, and owned digital channels (e.g., website, email, in-store screens) to support evolving business and brand objectives. As a hands-on creative, they balance strategic thinking with expert-level production execution. They transform briefs into compelling, platform-appropriate video content that connects with our audience and elevates brand expression. As an expert in motion design and video editing, they bring deep technical fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and project management tools. As a proactive problem solver and self-starter, they partner closely with marketers, fellow creatives, and external partners to craft motion-first campaigns that drive engagement, conversion, and brand affinity. They manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, consistently delivering high-quality work on time, while actively contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
