Job Description
- Req#: 40183
- Constructs, reconstructs & repairs sidewalks, curbs, roads and asphalt infrastructure, etc.
- Required to operate vehicle to transport co-workers, materials and equipment to job site.
- Ensures machines and equipment are being maintained in good working condition.
- Assists crews in the building or rebuilding of catch basins, maintenance access holes etc.
- May be required to provide work direction to staff.
- Ensures that the job site is left in a clean and safe manner and that all equipment and tools are secured at job site or returned to yard.
- Ensures that work is performed in a clean and safe manner. Sets out cones and flashers as required and ensure proper traffic control devices are in place.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
- Experience in placing, finishing and repairing concrete, masonry and asphalt.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Province of Ontario, Class "D" with “Z” endorsement within 18 months of employment and must qualify for the City’s equipment operating permits and requirements.
- Secondary School or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable knowledge and skill in the uses of the standard tools, materials, methods and practices used in concrete and asphalt work.
- Knowledge and familiarity of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
- Ability to determine work to be done and materials required.
- Knowledge and ability to maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties and able to work and drive in all weather conditions.
- With the appropriate safety precautions, must be able to tolerate dusty, noisy and odorous conditions and work in all weather conditions.
- Must be available to work shifts/weekends/overtime/on call duty.
