      Major Responsibilities:

      • Constructs, reconstructs & repairs sidewalks, curbs, roads and asphalt infrastructure, etc.
      • Required to operate vehicle to transport co-workers, materials and equipment to job site.
      • Ensures machines and equipment are being maintained in good working condition.
      • Assists crews in the building or rebuilding of catch basins, maintenance access holes etc.
      • May be required to provide work direction to staff.
      • Ensures that the job site is left in a clean and safe manner and that all equipment and tools are secured at job site or returned to yard.
      • Ensures that work is performed in a clean and safe manner. Sets out cones and flashers as required and ensure proper traffic control devices are in place.
      • Performs other related work as assigned.

      Key Qualifications:
      Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

      1. Experience in placing, finishing and repairing concrete, masonry and asphalt.
      2. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class “G” Driver’s License.
      3. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Province of Ontario, Class "D" with “Z” endorsement within 18 months of employment and must qualify for the City’s equipment operating permits and requirements.
      4. Secondary School or equivalent combination of education and experience.


      You must also have:

      • Considerable knowledge and skill in the uses of the standard tools, materials, methods and practices used in concrete and asphalt work.
      • Knowledge and familiarity of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
      • Ability to determine work to be done and materials required.
      • Knowledge and ability to maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
      • Must be physically capable of performing required duties and able to work and drive in all weather conditions.
      • With the appropriate safety precautions, must be able to tolerate dusty, noisy and odorous conditions and work in all weather conditions.
      • Must be available to work shifts/weekends/overtime/on call duty.
