Job Description

- Work with, and as part of, the assembly team to build, set up, and test machines to completion to BW Labelling standards with efficient and effective use of time
- Read, understand, and perform formal Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), keeping in mind the end goal is to have the manufacturing team perform FAT’s without assistance
- Maintain a production schedule with visibility that meets the deadlines of both internal and external customers and communicate this plan to both the manufacturing and Operational teams to ensure scheduling requirements are met
- Develop, coach, mentor, and cross train the manufacturing team
- Facilitate the development and documentation of processes for standard assembly and testing.
- Ensure design errors, changes and modification details are passed to Engineering with a clear explanation for the change
- Ensure quality errors are passed to Supply Chain
- Keep the manufacturing area clean and organized
- Maintain a ‘tour ready’ appearance in the manufacturing area
- Be an active member of the safety committee
- Minimum of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in machine building, preferably in the packaging industry
- Able to demonstrate leadership experience with direct reports
- Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
- Ability to coach, mentor
- Ability to use and maintain a training and skills matrix
- Working knowledge of machine building
- Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to read and understand drawings and build specifications
- Basic knowledge of machine control systems
- Ability to detect problems early and action appropriately
- Knowledge and understanding of safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Infor XA or ERP system is a plus
- Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Lifting up to 25kg
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is typically low.

- Occasional bending, stooping, as well as twisting, lifting, kneeling and reaching around machinery
- Some travel is required - driving/flying/train.

Job Summary
The Assembly Leader will complete the building/wiring of a project to meet industry and BWIS standards, from the start of assembly through to finalization. Support and assist the Manufacturing Leader with the day to day requirements within the manufacturing team. Works with the Engineering team to assist in solving build/wiring or performance problems and verify that the machine build/wire meets all customer requirements. The end goal in this position is to reach a level of experience and knowledge to perform customer demonstrations and final acceptance testing. Will engage in the business by actively participating in company events, training, education and Lean Manufacturing. Will strive to live BWIS’s ‘people centric’ culture and will ‘lead by example’.
