      Job Title: Large Engine Assembly Operator

      Sa lary: £15.07 ph

      Location: Shrewsbury

      Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives.       Job Opportunity:

      As a CV Large Engine Assembly Operator, you may be working on remanufactured products for British customers supply base. You will be learning all sub assembly and complete build for CV12 & CV8 engines as the business needs . Using Reman components and new to complete build of CV12 and CV8 D iesel engines from bare blocktp complete engine build . You will have the opportunity to expand your experience and knowledge of other large engine and powerpacks product line s in-house and formal training.

      Job Responsibilities and Duties:

      • The inspection and vet of parts and components.

      • The use of gauges and measuring equipment.

      • The safe use of heat and freezing techniques during product assembly.

      • P repare sub-assemblies for main build.

      • P erform complete CV main build once training has been completed.

      • P erform IPV and quality gates within the transmission build process.

      • D iagnose problems and apply corrective actions.

      • When required support hot test to rectify issues within the test cell.

      Skills and Experience:

      Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

      • Experience of assembly or mechanical work following a complex written instruction to high quality standards .

      • Experience of using hand tools and measuring equipment such as DTIs, Micrometres and Thread Gauges.

      • Ability to work well within a team .

      • Self-discipline to follow simple instructions in Health & Safety and Quality

      • Knowledge of assembly & fitting on CV diesel engines (Desirable)

      Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

      • A knowledge of Caterpillar Production Systems.

      • Basic use of Microsoft applications.
