- Configures, maintains, and updates web GIS services, applications, and systems within MDTA’s Enterprise GIS to meet internal stakeholder needs and facilitate business processes surrounding the lifecycle management of assets;
- Identifies and documents standards and best practices for MDTA’s GIS;
- Maintains a catalogue of GIS and other asset data for OEC including key information that identifies data owner, data type, key contacts, system of record, update cycle, accuracy, access level, use restrictions, etc.;
- Identifies responsibilities and oversees staff to perform the review, onboarding, and archive of key engineering datasets developed as part of MDTA’s design and construction programs;
- Participates in weekly GIS system Operations and Maintenance meetings with Information Technology (IT) and key stakeholders at MDTA;
- Provides recommendations and coordinates updates for data and system updates to meet stakeholder requirements, business needs, to mitigate risk, and to keep up with industry trends;
- Trains staff, coordinates cross-discipline asset management efforts, performs site visits, and field tests for MDTA mobile systems and other initiatives;
- Obtains consultant services and resources using existing contracts; and
- Reviews and approves Scope of Work for task orders.
- Experience managing enterprise GIS systems or datasets is desired, but not required (ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server); and
- Experience in transportation asset management.

Nature of Work: The Asset Data and GIS Analyst supports the operations of the Asset Management discipline in the Office of Engineering and Construction (OEC) by maintaining enterprise asset datasets, databases, and applications to manage assets throughout their lifecycle. This position is a technical role that also leads and directs supporting staff in the accomplishment of the described duties. The employee performs a vital role in supporting the development, update, and maintenance of complex enterprise geographic information system (GIS) transportation asset data and supporting datasets.

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in administrative or professional work. One (1) year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures. **Three (3) years of this experience must include professional GIS experience performing work related to transportation or public utilities.

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
