What it’s all about:
The multifamily asset management side of the Leased Housing department oversees many affordable housing programs in the state, totaling 300+ sites and over 22,000 units. The programs include the PBCA Section 8 program, Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, HOME, 811, and several smaller federal and state programs. RI Housing does not directly manage these sites. Still, we review financials, conduct physical inspections, audit tenant files, review rent increase requests, etc. to ensure that the sites follow federal and state regulations. There are 17 people on the team, many of whom spend time at these sites to perform their audits.
This position is accountable for administrating HUD rental subsidy contracts, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit projects, and ancillary portfolios. This includes accurate and timely completion of assigned regulatory compliance file audits, management reviews, and physical property inspections for rental units within Rhode Island Housing’s multi-family portfolio, per appropriate federal, state, and agency guidelines and policies.

The Asset Management intern will be responsible for assisting with a variety of tasks, such as processing requests for funds, financial auditing, and data entry to assist with our software transition. Depending on the person’s interests, they may be included in file reviews and unit inspections.
