      Job Summary:

      The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

      This paid internship* is in the Asset Management Directorate, Logistics & Support, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives. The purpose of Logistics and Support is to provide important logistical services to the entire House community. The purpose of the Asset Management Directorate is to assist House offices with managing all accountable equipment assets with the House, including receiving, transferring, inventorying, and disposing of equipment. This intern will have the opportunity to view the inner workings of the U.S. House of Representatives and learn about its operations.

      *Paid at an annual rate of $35,677 not to exceed 120 days

      ** The CAO standard business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. This is a full-time 40-hour per week internship that will require onsite attendance in Washington, D.C.

      Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

      This Internship will provide an immersive experience in the different areas of Asset Management including Operations (Receiving, Distribution, and Disposal), Inventory Management, Compliance, and House Services through job shadowing and participation in special projects to include but not limited to:

      • Critical asset management support
      • Business-focus project on House Computer Equipment Program
      • Reconciliation and review of equipment inventories
      • Asset management initiatives
      • Internal workflows for Congressional Transition

      Performs other official duties as assigned.

      Qualifications:

      • Currently in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related discipline.
      • Knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
      • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
      • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and with a team as required.
      • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
      • Ability to establish effective working relationships with House staff.
      • Ideal candidate will be a results-oriented team player possessing an interest in public service.
