      ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

      The News Department at WXTV Univision 41 is looking for an Assignment Editor/Associate Producer to join our team!

      We are looking for an inquisitive, resourceful assignment editor who knows how to make contacts, generate story ideas and has the ability to move crews strategically.

      You will work closely with Executive Producer, producers and reporters to assign and track news crews for a multiplatform distribution. Reporting directly to Executive Producer.

      ABOUT YOU:

      You are a self-started, creative thinker who can perform calmly and communicate effectively under pressure. You are familiar with the New York/New Jersey area, and accustomed to working on a fast-paced environment.

      YOUR DAY-DAY:

      • You will be researching, planning, and developing story ideas for our newscasts, as well as bringing breaking stories to air.
      • You will gather information from several broadcasts and online sources to determine coverage opportunities.
      • You will Coordinate our crews in their news gathering and production process, making and confirming appointments with interviewees as well as providing accurate address and contact information to news crew.
      • .You will monitor law enforcement and fire communications, check wires, and make beat-checks to determine coverage of spot news and special reports.
      • You will maintain the iNews tool updated with crew’s locations and timelines.
      • You will participate in editorial meetings and supervise video feeds.
      • You will research potential show topics and book guests for show.
      • You will work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
      • You will carry out the Univision 41 promise of value and oversee the daily execution of that vision.

      YOU HAVE:

      • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
      • 1–2 year minimum experience in general market or Spanish language television station as a News Assignment Editor and/or Producer preferred.
      • Bilingual in English/Spanish verbal and written skills
      • Excellent and grammatically accurate Spanish language skills - both written and oral
      • Ample knowledge of television production and News gathering equipment and computer systems required
      • Ample knowledge of current events, with emphasis in local and regional movers and shakers
      • Effective news writing ability for all platforms
