Responsible for communicating with field teams across the country
Communicates editorial developments to a live control room
Verifies and confirms legal and true crime news for air
Communicates news in a breaking news environment
Confers with producers/editors to coordinate production activities
May participate in writing and editing activities
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
3 -5 years of experience in a live news environment, preferably on a national assignment desk
Strong editorial skills
Knowledge of the criminal justice system
Interest in true crime stories and live trial coverage
Must be able to calmly communicate news in a breaking news environment, handling important information during dramatic, emotional live events
Ability to adapt during breaking news

The E.W. Scripps Company and Court TV is seeking an Assignment Editor, responsible for researching and tracking compelling stories to be aired on the appropriate network. Monitors outside news agencies, media platforms, and other news sources to obtain information regarding developing news stories.
