What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Litigate cases related to juvenile welfare, including dependency and termination of parental rights
- Appear in court weekly and manage a high-volume litigation caseload
- Communicate and meet with clients, including social workers and supervisors
- Prepare for fact-finding and termination of parental rights trials
- Handle appellate litigation arising from trials
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be licensed to practice law in Washington State or actively pursuing admission
- Expressed interest in public sector law with a strong desire to litigate
- Exceptional organizational, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a heavy caseload in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with diverse backgrounds and experiences
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with state and federal laws governing child welfare cases
- Experience in juvenile law or litigation is a plus
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in client advising
