What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Defend tort claims and lawsuits against state agencies, officers, and employees
- Provide legal and risk management advice on tort matters to client agencies
- Develop and execute legal strategy while maintaining comprehensive knowledge of procedural and substantive law
- Engage in all aspects of discovery, trial, and appeals including jury and bench trials
- Collaborate with professional staff and investigators to effectively handle cases
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a licensed attorney in Washington State or actively pursuing admission
- Minimum of five years of progressive legal experience in civil litigation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent legal judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and clients
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution processes
- Previous experience trying cases in state and/or federal court
- Background in torts and civil litigation
- Proven ability to interact with high-level client representatives
