The Assistant Communications Director reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications in supporting the effective management of all media relations, publications, social media and website content for the NCAA Division athletic program and ensures positive representation of the University.
• Serves as the primary contact for designated teams and assists other sports.
• Provides daily coverage of assigned sports with accurate statistical compilation, press releases, social content and record books that include game preview, game recaps and feature stories.
• Creates social content for assigned sports and the athletic department.
• Coordinates interviews with local, regional and national media.
• Occasionally supervise graduate assistants, interns, part-time or student employees involving game day activities, operations and weekly office duties.
• Other duties as required.• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of professional experience in intercollegiate athletic communications or relevant experience at an NCAA institution or professional sports.
• Knowledge of sports and sports statistics.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign or similar software.
• Proficiency with NCAA communications-related statistical software of Statcrew and Genius (NLS).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build social content campaigns across all digital channels, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Winthropeagles.com.
• Ability and willingness to travel, work nights, weekends and holidays.Salary: $19.50 per hour; (07/1/2025-06/15/2026)
