- Strategic planning, establish and prioritize short- and long-term goals, define measurable outcomes to track success of the Black Cultural Center. Develop, implement and evaluate educational cultural programming that results in increased awareness and appreciation for diversity and engagement. Develop data-informed strategies to meet dynamic needs of diverse black student populations
- Manage BCC facility reservations by coordinating and facilitating reservation requests and tracking building utilization
- Collect, maintain, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data: use to evaluate engagement, learning outcome effectiveness, attendance and utilization of the Black Cultural Center and programming, marketing/outreach strategies, etc. Create reports and presentations identifying themes, statistical and qualitative results, trends, and suggested changes based on data
- Shared oversight of Black Cultural Center branding, marketing, external communications, and public relations adhering to current Purdue University branding guidelines. Train staff and student employees to follow university approved branding and marketing strategies in print and digital platforms
- Assist with development initiatives including Purdue Day of Giving and Alumni engagement. Develop projected budgets for major programs and present them to Director for approval. Maintain records of past programming, budgets, assessments, volunteers
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree
- Four or more years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of African American history, culture, and higher education student support services
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Experience in coordinating cultural, social, education ad/or social justice programming, and leadership and program development
- Experience in designing and implementing education programs focusing on diverse student populations
- Demonstrated competence in print and digital marketing
- Professional experience advising and creating leadership development opportunities for students and student organizations
- Experience developing community and public engagement programs, and public speaking
- Skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Skills in Assessment, Website Management, Student Development Theory and Mentoring/Advising
- Excellent written and oral communication along with strong research skills
- Comprehensive understanding of social justice and the intersection of identities and oppression
- Master's degree in Higher Education, African American Studies, Counseling, Women's Studies, Diversity Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Cultural Studies, Communication Studies or a related field
- Two or more years of relevant work experience

Job Summary
Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Director of the Black Cultural Center, the Assistant Director (AD) provides administrative leadership in the areas of program management and operations at the Black Cultural Center. Specifically, the Assistant Director will focus on high-level planning, development, implementation, and assessment of programming including and related tot he Cultural Arts Series. In this role, the AD works with internal and external constituencies on diversity initiatives and implementation, enhances the visibility and impact of the Black Cultural Center, and maintains shared responsibility over daily operations at the Black Cultural Center. The Assistant Director is a senior member of the Black Cultural Center staff and serves as a stand-in for the Director when they are unavailable. The AD is responsible for shared oversight of Black Cultural Center branding, marketing, and external communications. The AD works with Black Cultural Center staff in setting goals that align with the mission of the department and of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (ODIB), prioritizing short and long-term goals and defining measurable outcomes for assessment. The AD is effective at solving complex problems using data-driven knowledge to close gaps in initiatives that enhance the overall black student experience while cultivating a sense of belonging and safety. The AD will stay abreast of relevant research, theory, best practices, and national trends as well as current issues impacting black communities in higher education to promote student persistence, academic success, retention, and graduation. The AD shares responsibility for responding to inquiries and providing consultation as well as appropriate resources, and referrals to students, staff, faculty and other stakeholders. The AD will be responsible for leading and supervising student ambassador staff. They will serve as a primary contact for consultation and coordination with on- and off-campus resources to cultivate and foster relationships that will maximize student potential and increase the visibility and impact of the Black Cultural Center.
