      The Assistant Director of Infection Prevention is a professional with a Master's or nursing degree with broad knowledge and skill in infection control and epidemiology. This individual is responsible for the coordination and management of daily operations of the Infection Control and Blood Body Fluid Exposure programs, project management of infection prevention initiatives designed to improve outcomes and for ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission, NYSDOH, NYCDOH and other regulatory requirements. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Hospital Epidemiologist.

      Qualifications

      • Masters Degree in Nursing, or Health Care Administration, Public Health or related
      • 7 years minimum (greater preferred) of progressive job-related experience specific to infection prevention and epidemiology.
      • NYS nursing licensure is preferred.

      Non-Bargaining Unit, 250 - Infection Control - MSH, Mount Sinai Hospital

      Responsibilities

      1. Acts as liaison between between the Infection Prevention Officer, Director of Performance Improvement, and Infection Prevention staff members on matters of relevance.

      2. Prioritizes tasks and spearheads special projects focused on Infection Prevention initiatives.

      3. Supervises all professional staff, including Infection Control Preventionists, the Senior Infection Prevention Practitioner, and support personnel in collaboration with the Infection Prevention Officer.

      4. Responsible for organization, staffing and participation on the Infection Prevention Committee.

      5. Provides coverage and back up to Infection Prevention staff as needed.

      6. Oversees NYSDOH Hospital Acquired Infection Reporting ( HAI) using the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and NYSDOH, HERDS Health Alert Network.

      7. Other relevant duties assigned.
