      Founded in 1887, Cornell Law School is a top-tier law school, currently ranked 13th by U.S. News & World Report. We offer a 3-year JD program for about 200 students per class, a one-year LLM program for about 90 students from countries throughout the world, and a doctoral (JSD) program for about 2-3 new students per year. Cornell Law School has 41 tenured and tenure-track faculty, including 20 with chaired faculty positions; and 15 clinical professors in the legal research and writing program and in clinics at the local, national, and international level.       Cornell admissions and financial aid representatives across its colleges share a mission to provide information to prospective students so that any person can find instruction in any study, supporting strategic enrollment goals defined by the institution. Admissions and financial aid services are carried out through a matrixed organizational system in which staff in colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate with Division of Enrollment offices which serve as a partner and resource for all college/unit staff serving enrollment functions.

      The Opportunity

      The Assistant Director of Admissions is a professional who provides strategic and operational support to Cornell Law School’s admissions and enrollment process. Responsibilities include:

      • Recruitment of prospective students by participating in recruitment events, including law school fairs, panel presentations, individual presentations, and other recruitment activities around the country and in Canada.

      • Researching, developing, and making high-visibility presentations related to the legal profession, the Law School, and the admissions process.

      • Counseling and interviewing prospective law students.

      • Interfacing with college and university pre-law advisors and career services offices.

      • Developing and executing outreach plans for underrepresented communities, including working closely with Law School student groups to facilitate outreach and student pipeline development.

      • Event planning and execution of on-site and off-site recruitment events for prospective and admitted students.

      • Content creation and maintenance related to electronic and print admissions publications, the admissions web site, and related social media.

      • Training and supervision of student tour guides.

      • Reviewing and evaluating Law School applications in conjunction with the Law School Admissions Committee.

      • Managing social media accounts for the Office of Admissions.

      • Collaborating with stakeholders in and outside of the Law School on recruitment events, yield activities, communications, and activities that lead to conversion of applicants.

      This position requires travel for extended periods, particularly during the fall semester. This is an in-person/hybrid position located in Ithaca, NY.

      What We Need

      • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience, or equivalent combination.

      • Working knowledge of higher education admissions.

      • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

      • Strong research abilities including knowledge of and facility with surveys.

      • Ability to interface and effectively maintain relationships with multiple constituencies, and make presentations to varied audiences around the country.

      • Must be able to work independently in high-visibility and/or high-stress situations. Ability to exercise discretion, resolve problems using sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.

      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, website editing, and electronic communications.

      • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion , and wellbeing.

      • Proven experience connecting diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing practices to business goals.

      • Experience developing comprehensive recruitment plan.

      • Experience with PeopleSoft, ACES/Unite, and CRM platforms, e.g., Salesforce, Slate, etc., and various social media platforms.
